Requiem

When I first met Raffaele Borriello and Julien Desselle, designers of Requiem, about a year ago in New York, they were still trying to make a name for themselves. These two men were making their rounds at Saks Fifth Avenue, personally taking orders for their collection...Now, they have got critics like the infamous Nicole Phelps harping on their designs. Clearly, they have come a long way.

Borriello and Desselle are extremely talented men who move forward with a philosophy of design that unites couture with ready-to-wear. There is something delicate about each piece they make, and yet, so bold at the same time. I have always been a huge fan of a sort of harsh femininity which is why I think I gravitate towards the brand. The Fall 2008 collection isn't as strong as I would have expected from these two YSL and Gucci alums, but I definitely think they have got what it takes to get there. They seem to capture the essence of a strong woman and run with it, and I really admire this in their designs.

You should check out their collection when you have a moment. I think you might be pleased.
It's worth checking out new brands...I think it's easy for us to just fall into the motions of the biggies aka: Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce, etc. We can expand our horizon's together!! =p
